Explore the LabHQ 2026 LIMS product roadmap - covering Q1 and Q2 features now live, plus what's coming next.

LabHQ Q2 2026 release – now live

Our Q2 release went live on 30th June 2026, bringing tighter control over sample traceability, certificate accuracy and record-locking once work is approved.

Sample Storage Locations

Samples can now carry an assigned storage location as part of the record, so teams always know exactly which freezer, shelf or rack a sample is sitting in.

Certificate & Reporting Improvements

A new report template preview lets teams check formatting before a certificate goes live, and labels can now pull in additional data points including client, due date and location.

Bulk Certificate Downloads

External users can now download all sample certificates for a job in a single action via the LabHQ Portal, rather than one at a time - useful when pulling documentation for an audit.

Record Locking on Approval

Approved records can now be permanently locked against further edits, giving regulated labs a clean, defensible record. This is configurable, so teams that don't need it can leave it off.

Org-Level Timezone Settings

Labs can now set a single, organization-wide timezone, keeping timestamps consistent for teams working internationally.

Stock Quantity Precision

Stock quantities now support decimal values, with batches automatically removed once they hit zero - keeping inventory records accurate without manual clean-up.

Continuous Delivery by Default

From this release, LabHQ moves to a continuous delivery model: labs have access to new features ad updates as soon as they're built and tested, rather than waiting for a quarterly cycle. Labs operating under change control can switch to the Quarterly Release option in Admin Settings to keep a fixed, predictable review window.

LabHQ Q1 2026 release – now live

Our Q1 release went live on 31st March 2026 and is our most significant update to date. It focused on reducing manual effort and improving visibility across the platform.

Clear Lab Dashboard

A new lab management dashboard gives lab managers and QC teams a real-time overview of key information the moment they log in, without needing to jump between pages or export data. Fully customizable with an extensive widget gallery, building on reporting and dashboards in LabHQ. This should make it easier to spot issues early, track progress and stay in control as workloads increase.

Stock Management Updates

Daily email notifications for expired stock batches help labs stay proactive and avoid last-minute issues, building on stock management in LabHQ.

Customizable Sample Labels

Labs now have greater control over how samples are identified and tracked, making it easier to align labels with existing workflows and traceability requirements, as part of sample management in LabHQ.

App Rebrand

The main LabHQ app has been refreshed with an updated visual identity and a new welcome dashboard with onboarding guidance to support new users getting up and running faster.

CSV & XLS Results Import

Results can now be imported directly from CSV or XLS files into the results entry screen, reducing manual data entry.

Coming up: Future Roadmap

Beyond Q2, the next phase of the roadmap focuses on reducing complexity in day-to-day lab operations and deepening collaboration between labs and their customers.

Coming in Q3 2026

  • Barcode scanning for samples, making it faster to identify, locate and track samples through the lifecycle
  • A redesigned job submission experience, with a guided, step-by-step workflow covering all job, sample and custom field information before submission
  • Expanded portal collaboration - external users can access approved attachments directly from the portal and receive notifications when new files are available, with labs retaining control over what's shared
  • Sample rejection capabilities, giving labs a formal way to reject unsuitable samples with a clear audit trail
  • Guided onboarding and in-app contextual help, to reduce training time for new users
  • A new certificate management area, centralizing certificate generation and downloads, with the ability to generate for different clients, choose which test outputs appear, and export to Word (.docx)

Coming in Q4 2026

  • Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) functionality – Centralizing records and reducing reliance on disconnected tools.
  • Further stock enhancements – Building on stock management in LabHQ.

How LabHQ Builds Features With Its Users

For labs considering a LIMS, understanding where a platform is heading can be just as important as what it offers today.

Many of the items on this roadmap come directly from conversations with lab managers, quality teams and operations managers using LabHQ day to day.

If you have a feature request or want to influence what we build next, you can share feedback directly through the in-app feedback form.

We’ll keep this page updated as plans develop and share updates as features move from roadmap to release through our regular product updates.
